Nature & Leisure Committee

The Headwaters Nature & Leisure committee’s mandate is to promote the Headwaters region (Caledon, Dufferin, Erin, Mono & Shelburne) as a soft adventure tourism destination.

This initiative will use a regional collaborative approach that draws upon the resources and assets of the regional municipalities, business and economic development associations, sector and citizen groups, as well as leveraging and aligning with recreation strategies throughout the region and province.

Typical soft adventure travel experiences include, but are not limited to:  sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, fishing, dude ranches, nature studies, orienteering, horseback riding, bird watching, yoga, skiing and snowboarding and a variety of competitive type activities include outdoor racing and sport competitions.  The Headwaters region offers an abundance of these activities and provides and opportunity to showcase these experiences to travellers from near and far.

Our shared goals include:

  1. To assist in the promotion of the Headwaters region as a destination for soft adventure tourism;
  2. To identify opportunities for collaboration and the creation of experiences through partnership with municipalities, local conservation  authorities, community groups, local businesses and service providers that are both economically feasible and provide value-added opportunities for visitors, residents and the business community.
