Every year Headwaters Tourism celebrates excellence in the tourism and hospitality industry during our regional Headwaters Tourism Awards ceremony.
This annual celebratory event honours those industry businesses and individuals that exemplify excellence and help to position the Headwaters region as Ontario’s premier tourism destination.
The 2016 Headwaters Tourism Awards took place at the new Adamo Estate Winery.

Award category descriptions:
Best ARTS & HERITAGE Visitor Experience
This award recognizes a business, organization or collaborative that has demonstrated a commitment to the development and promotion of authentic, innovative and enriched arts, heritage or cultural tourism visitor experiences.
Best FRESH & LOCAL Visitor Experience
This award recognizes a Headwaters business, organization or event that delivers an authentic consumer experience, showcasing Headwaters food and beverage to all visitors. Nominations must clearly demonstrate innovation in showcasing authentic culinary experiences in the region.
Best FUN & FESTIVE Visitor Experience
This award will be presented to an event, festival, attraction or activity that attracts visitors, participants and/or spectators, and may be (but is not limited to being) an event/festival/activity of the following types: cultural, historical, musical, arts, sporting, culinary, literary, general interest, amusement, or other.
Best NATURE & LEISURE Visitor Experience
This award will be presented to a business or organization that provides outstanding tourism experiences that focus on the region’s nature and leisure opportunities.
Best HORSE & COUNTRY Visitor Experience
This award will be presented to a business or organization that provides outstanding tourism experiences that focus on the region’s agricultural or equestrian opportunities.
Best SEE, SHOP & STAY Visitor Experience
This award will be presented to a business or organization that provides an outstanding tourism experience and exceptional customer service that enhances a visitor’s stay in the area. Nominees for this category may include (but are not limited to) accommodations, retail & shopping experiences, health & wellness, transportation and ancillary service providers.
Best NEW Tourism Business
Recognizes a new tourism organization or business (in operation for no longer than 36 months) that exemplifies industry best practices in all aspects of its operations, and is thus an example of all-round business excellence in the tourism industry.
Tourism INNOVATOR of the Year
The Innovator of the Year Award will be presented to the tourism business, organization or individual that develops the most innovative new tourism product, service or process, or the most innovative new approach to an existing tourism product, service or process that positively impacts the tourism business or the tourism industry as a whole.
Tourism PARTNERSHIP Award
The Tourism Partnership Award will be presented to the tourism business, organization or individual that makes the year’s most outstanding contribution through partnership & collaboration to develop, build and enhance the tourism sector and profile of the Headwaters region.
Tourism CHAMPION of the Year
This award is given to an individual who embodies the spirit of tourism in Headwaters. This person should be directly involved with the industry (as an employee, business owner, volunteer, advocate, etc) and be able to give evidence of their contributions.
